Amazon MP3 Clips Widget Enter Associates

If you have a music blog with a focus on Amazon Associates program today announced a widget you want to see - which is a MP3 Clips Widget allows readers to listen to live music clips in place.

That hand can select songs to be included in the widget or choose categories of songs. Sales generated by the control that earns 10% of the sale as a partner. Just be aware that only the U.S. can buy music from Amazon (or at least seem to need a U.S. credit card). All readers will see the widget - not only become a reality through the sale of a MP3.

Making Money From The Clicks Of 2 And 3 With The Amazon Affiliate Program

Shoemoney Jeremy Twittered yesterday to say that the review he wrote the book 38 ProBlogger book sales generated through your affiliate link to Amazon. He continued that money money did the other things people went shopping after clicking through the line.

The great thing about the Amazon affiliate program is that not only make commissions on the item link from your blog, but any article that refers to your reader might buy after clicking on your link.

I wrote about this before in a post on the power to make people in the door in the Amazon, where I showed an example of when I linked to a picture book in a review of DPS. That link is generated over 160 sales - 100 of whom were not articles I linked in the review. Along with items worth about $ 500.

This is my experience time and again. The money in the use of Amazon's affiliate program is not often that you click on first - but on days 2, 3 (etc) once people are in front of the Amazon.

Retirement Of AdSense Referrals Program And Launch The Google Affiliate Network

Today AdSense announced they are developing the "References to a close and relaunch a new Google Network members. In actual effect of the new affiliate network, is not" new "- but a renamed version of the Affiliate Network DoubleClick Performics which it acquired in March.

This is a story that many expected - especially since Google bought DoubleClick earlier this year. Nor is it surprising, as most editors I know have had very little success with the AdSense Referrals program inside. In fact, I am one of the few people I know who did more of it - and almost dry when they changed the AdSense referral program.

If you promote products AdSense Referrals ...

If you're a blogger to promote any products AdSense Referrals is the time to remove the post and replace it with something else. You can run the ads, but they will stop working in the last week of August.

It is unclear whether the references which has made have not been converted will also be zero in the last week of August also. This is something I would like to see AdSense clear that some programs have long waiting times for those who refer to "convert" and therefore, to make money.

Google Affiliate Network

The new Google Affiliate Network does not do something that everyone will be able to use. They say they are directed to sites with much of the US-based traffic - I am yet to see any explanation on how they will be filtering publishers, if a minimum of traffic based on gain in time, so say the editors begin to apply. Today, I know that Performics has accepted me as an editor (I was using before) so it's not too hard to get I hope!

No more Google products affiliate

Those of you that the promotion of 'Google products through the current system of "References" should know that there are no plans at this time to have these products available to promote through new affiliate network. They can come later, but my sources on Google say these programs are coming to an end and there is no way to make money immediately by sending new AdSense publishers, AdWords advertisers, etc.

5 Lessons About Making Money With Affiliate Programs

1. Relevance to the public, product and content

A key in promoting the high converting affiliate products is to align as closely as possible to the needs of your audience, with the product you are promoting and content produced on his blog.

For example, if my readers are all digital photographers, I'm making a blog with content that teaches the basics of photography and I was promoting a book or a course in beginner to intermediate photography tips - who would have a very good ability to generate some sales and therefore commissions.

However, if I was to promote the same course here at ProBlogger the campaign would fall on her face and I probably would hurt my reputation more than good.

2. Trust is crucial

I think the affiliate promotions tend to work better on a blog that has been around for a time when the number of readers has been traveling with the blogger for a while.

When you read someone's solid advice on a daily basis for a couple of years that are far more likely to buy something you recommend to buy something from a complete stranger. It's all about establishing credibility and trust.

3. Traffic is the key

There is no way around it - that increase the chances of a conversion with the number of people who see your invitation to purchase a product.

Of course it depends on the audience - not all traffic is equal.

For example, I could reach the front page of Digg with my job of promoting a product and get 100 times the normal message traffic any, and conversions would be 100 times higher (simply because Digg readers do not usually take into account both affiliate products, and because I have no established relationship with them).

However, as the loyal readership grows in numbers that tend to increase the chances of conversion.

4. Reinforce the message

I wrote about this in my ProBlogger Newsletter a few weeks ago - but I think instead of posting once on a product you're promoting - it can be much more effective to find ways to reinforce a message through time . You can start with a message saying the announcement to your readers about what you are promoting, you may follow within a few days with a review of it, and then a week later with a reader testamonial to then go to an interview of someone who is behind the product ....

The key is to find useful ways to talk about the product without disturbing its readers (not always easy). By doing this, remember and reinforce the 'tone' for you reader to buy.

5. Positioning

Affiliate promotions usually do not work very well if all it is a banner in the sidebar. Become still - nowhere, but close by, as if the position of his class in a message to himself as the subject of the message.

How Begin Making Money Using Affiliate Programs On Your Website

In reading the comments on that post and was wondering some thoughts came to mind that I think is worth adding:

Test and monitor results

I have written several times on ProBlogger about fit testing and advertising on your blog (for example - this post about how to run split testing).

The same principle applies to the campaigns of members in a number of levels.

1. Split Testing Ad Banner

If you run ads to promote your affiliate campaign (remember yesterday I said they tend not to work, and in subsequent promotions) can run some tests of division in a way similar to that mentioned in the article split testing. Instead of showing two different versions of AdSense ads - only show two different types of banner ads promoting the product you are promoting. Just make sure you have a banner tracking method is the conversion of the best (there are many affiliate programs either give up or different identifiers will follow up the banners for you).

2. Monitoring what your readers respond to

Yesterday I mentioned that instead of promoting an affiliate product once it may be worth taking a number of different message types for its promotion over time. The beauty of this is that you begin to see what your readers respond. You may find that some people subscribe to a product the first time advertised, but when you write a review to increase sales. Alternatively, you may find that when offered a bonus to sign up again, or even respond to you an interview with the person behind the product. The key is to try different things, but after seeing how they develop.

Test conversions in an affiliate program seems so basic - but I wonder how many bloggers to do with affiliate programs that only seems to slap a quick post to say "buy this product and do not seem to be creative in dealing new methods of promotion.

3. Try the different programs and their conversions

In yesterday's post Omar asked for a list of the best affiliate programs. It's a common question, but it is really impossible to answer because there are literally thousands of options open to bloggers and the different programs become differently for different blogs. As mentioned in yesterday's post, this partly depends on the relevance of the products to their content and audience - but also depends on other factors such as sales copy landing page to send traffic to (some the pages will be of interest to some other audiences), the profile and branding of the site you send traffic to the product price, etc.

The key when you're in the game of affiliate marketing is to experiment with different affiliate programs and products within them. You may find that a program like the Amazon Associates program best suits your audience (despite their low commission rates than some others), because your audience is familiar with it, or you can find a program like PepperJam (which has a lot of big network affiliates) is best for you or you could even build a relationship with a smaller company that has its own private affiliate program because their products only "attacks" with your audience.

The key is to find relevant products that meet the needs of your audience and track conversions.
One more thing about affiliate programs Selection

There are some very good comments in the previous post about choosing affiliate programs - particularly Linda G and Lex. They collect that is not always the largest affiliate program payment is the best. While it's great to find a program that pays a high price high percentage commission - you might find that the price is beyond the scope of the type of audience they have and other programs that pay less commissions and is less expensive may actually earn more.

A lot of people cancel programs like Amazon Associates Program because of its committees and lower prices on items such as books - however, I noticed that Amazon can work very well for me (that remains in my best form of make money blogging at # 4 on the list, while I do not see dramatic sales that other programs can earn hundreds of children -. the sales that I can see on any given day will certainly add up.

How much traffic do you need?

Dainis question in the comments of previous post how much traffic is needed before starting to promote affiliate programs.

This is another good (and common) question - and as with many aspects of making money with blogs is a question that different people respond differently.

My personal approach is to start promoting this type of program for the first. I wrote a long post about when to put advertising on a blog before and much of what I say is also relevant to affiliate programs, but they are my main reasons for the early onset:

While you can not do much with just a bit of traffic you could do something.
From early readers used to the idea that making money with your blog. Adding that later could put some offside.
Learn how to monetize your blog before you have readers so you can deal with errors of a few instead of a lot of people.

A Message To Amazon Associates Program

Dear Amazon.

I have been using their associated program for a couple of years - since the early days, when I won a few dollars a month to today, when I send tens of thousands of dollars of business each month. I wrote about why I believe in your program and I have no doubt sent hundreds (if not thousands of members in my time).

According to my calculations we have sent about $ 1,500,000 in sales in the last five years.

I am very grateful for the $ 70,000 that you sent me in payment of membership and I am by no means its major affiliate, but I hope to have reached one million dollars in sales of the brand to forgive me this note to express a concern I have the hope that could help improve your program.

I am increasingly frustrated by their payment system.

While offering direct debit payments for those in the U.S. - I live in Australia and therefore has two payment options - checks and gift certificates. Let's take a look at the two methods:

1. Gift Certificates - as someone who earns $ 2000 - $ 3000 in commissions each month from Amazon's just not possible for me to make my payments on the certificates. To begin with I had run out of things to buy rather quickly - especially because most of their high-priced items can not be shipped outside the U.S..

This leaves me with the option of simply buying books, DVDs and CDs ($ 2 -. $ 3k a month ...) or buying things, sending U.S. friends and repost them to Australia. It also means having to pay for international shipping everything I buy - not cheap. Let's say that this rules out the option of gift certificate (although I take it once a year if I'm making a trip to the U.S.).

2. Check - This leaves me with only one option - to receive a check. Let me say that your checks do come quickly. The I can get in a couple of weeks after the end of the month - much faster than others (good job) - However, a check for over $ 2000 in Australia needs to be processed by my bank and sent back to the U.S. . UU. before it can be cleared. It takes six weeks from the day that bank.

This means that the money they make from Amazon in the first of a month can take six weeks to get the check and then another six weeks before you see the money. Ie 3 months!

Overall, this is one of the slowest payment systems and I have to use outdated. Each affiliate program or ad network that I use (and use some) gives the option of either international direct deposit or PayPal transfer, especially to members who earn over a certain threshold.

The only other program members who insisted that I receive checks gives me the option to split them in small quantities (which get 2-3 of them every month) so the check can be processed locally without the delay of six weeks.

I love the Amazon affiliate program, but the payment system is increasingly frustrating me. I would like to see you do something about it for me and my fellow non-affiliated U.S. and in so doing, improve their already great program.

I know you must be busy with their big sale on Black Friday - but I appreciate your consideration of this.

Increase Sales With Amazon Best Seller And Lists Of Popular Products

This week we have been looking at a variety of techniques to help you increase your blogs earnings in the period leading up to Christmas.

Today I share two similar techniques that I used in the last week is a big part of my income tripled in the Amazon for the month of December - best seller and lists of popular products.

These two techniques that I use regularly in my photography semi Site Ponte - let me explain, with examples, how to do them.

Lists of Best Seller

This technique is used in stores everywhere. Head into your local bookstore and you're bound to find a list of 'best seller', or even a screen showing what books are best sellers of the month.

The books that sell well and get on these lists usually go to the next level - simply because they are on the list. People see that they are popular and therefore when they are looking for a book - which is more likely to go for them because obviously others like them. It's partly about using the wisdom of the crowd to identify the quality and make decisions, but is also part of "social proof".

Here is an example of how to use this same concept to create my own list of best seller in my blog.

You can see the list of my popular digital cameras and gear page. On this page you will see a number of bestseller lists photography books, digital SLR cameras, lenses and point and shoot cameras. The lists were compiled simply through the statistics on my Amazon affiliate program.

Amazon gives very detailed reports of what the products are sold through your affiliate links. You can arrange the number of items sold and not difficult to take that information and put it in a list of your own.

Of course, this works best if you have an audience that has been shopping - but all is not lost. Go to any Amazon category page (eg, the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Books page) and you can see which products are sorted in order of 'best seller'.

No best selling books on the subject. Simply find a category that relates to your subject and you can create an important place in his blog that thrives on the idea of social proof.

Popular Products List

Another similar technique I have found to be very effective is the creation of "lists of popular products." This is similar to establishing a list of products that are popular for their readers to interact with - but the difference is that you do not use Amazon statistics to put the list together - that readers use their own information to create the list .

That's how it works for me recently:

I asked my readers what DSLR lenses considers that his favorite targets. I asked them to leave a comment with the details of what they loved the lens.
After 10 days of comments from the readers (I promoted this issue after a lot in my weekly newsletter) I spent a couple of hours to sift through the responses of all.
I took those answers and build a new place - The most popular DSLR lenses - According to our readers. I broke the list into different manufacturers to be more useful and then published it.

The result was very good. The message has not generated many comments - but generated very good sales on Amazon for next week. Interestingly, the message was also very popular when it linked to the email newsletter of the next week - was the link to click that email with more than 5000 people who saw the message.

This led to some good sales of the lenses mentioned in the post - for sale, but also as secondary to other products that people continue to browse Amazon.

Again - this technique is based on her blog readers and readers who leave comments - but even with a small group of readers I'm sure you could do.

Good luck creating your sales success and lists of popular products!

PS: A guy smarter than I am experimenting with DPS is now a collection of reviews that I posted in the blog above. You can see this in action in a post entitled 12 Great digital photography books for your Christmas stocking.

In summary, a list of books on the subject of photography, with links to Amazon and the reviews I've written before about the books short quotations from reviews. I have not made such a list before, but I suspect it will do well.

By The Way, What Do You Know About Affiliate Marketing?

It seems that most readers are asking this question of what was previously thought.

In a recent poll here at ProBlogger I asked readers if they had done any affiliate marketing on their blogs. The results revealed that:

29% of regular readers do
24% do so occasionally
27% have never done affiliate marketing in blogs
6% used to, but not more
14% do not know what affiliate marketing

There are some interesting results there, but it was the last category (bloggers do not know what affiliate marketing) I wanted to write this post hoping to answer the question. It's pretty basic and very focused for beginners, but for 14% of you who do not know what affiliate marketing is - here is a brief introduction.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Perhaps the easiest way to explain affiliate marketing is that it is a way to make money online by which you, as an editor are rewarded for helping a company by promoting your product, service or site.

There are a number of ways these types of promotions, but in most cases involving a publisher to earn a commission when someone follows a link to your blog to another site where you buy something.

Other variations of this is where you earn a referral fee for a visitor who has some kind of action - for example when registering for something and give an email address where you complete a survey, which leave your name and address, etc.

Commissions are often a percentage of the sale, but can also be a fixed amount for each conversion.

Conversions are generally followed when the publisher (you) use a link with a unique code used by you to be embedded in it that allows advertisers to track conversions where they come from (usually by cookies). Other times, an advertiser can give a publisher a "coupon code" for your readers to use that helps oversee conversions.

For example, when I recently dropped 31 days to build a better book blog also people an opportunity to promote the book with an affiliate program through which they could earn a 40% commission on each sale. When you register to become an affiliate is given a special code unique to you, allowing you to promote the book and make $ 7.98 per sale. The top affiliate earned over $ 2000 in the first weeks after its release through these commissions.

Advertisers prefer affiliate marketing as a way to promote your products because they know they only have to pay for advertising when there is a conversion. I knew when I started this affiliate program, although I paid less for each sale that has a network of affiliate promotion is almost certain to increase the levels of total sales.
The editors often prefer affiliate marketing, because if they find a product that is relevant to your niche that profits can go far beyond any cost per click or cost per impression advertising campaign.

Why affiliate marketing can work well on blogs

Affiliate marketing is not the only way to make money with blogs and are not adapted to any blog / blogger (more on that below), but there are some reasons why it may be profitable in our environment. Perhaps the greatest of these is that affiliate marketing seems to work best when there is a relationship of trust between the publisher and his readers.

I found that as confidence deepens the readers are more likely to follow recommendations made by a blogger.

Of course, this can also be a refusal to affiliate marketing - promoting the wrong product and trust can be broken (more on that later).

Affiliate Marketing - Easy Money?

While affiliate marketing can be very lucrative, it is important to know that affiliate marketing is not easy money. Most people who try to do very little, since it depends on many factors, including:

traffic (traffic helpful)
find relevant products
find quality products
building trust with your readers
have an audience that is in a buying mood "
to be able to write a good sales letter (and more)

There are also some risks associated with affiliate marketing if you press too hard or the promotion of low quality products that can actually burn the readers and hurt your reputation and brand.

It is also worth noting that affiliate marketing does not work on all blogs. Some blogs are about topics that are hard to find products to promote - other blogs attract audiences that are not in a buying frame of mind and for other blogs that just do not fit the style of the blogger or focus.

Tomorrow I want to continue with the focus on affiliate marketing with another message - this one on how to find affiliate products to promote.

Finding Profitable Products To Promote Membership

Last week I spoke to a small group of bloggers here in Melbourne with a cafe. One issue that several of them were interested in talking about is affiliate marketing. They were struggling with advertising as a model to make money with their blogs and wanted to expand and experiment with affiliate promotions in your blog.

But want to get into affiliate marketing and actually doing are two different things. There are a number of challenges to overcome.

One challenge is finding the right product to promote.

Choose the right products to promote affiliate promotions is crucial for a number of reasons - the main two are:

1. Products are key - if your blog attracts an audience around a particular theme or demographic is unlikely to be able to sell products that have no relevance to the topic of your blog.

2. The quality of the products may affect its long-term brand - the promotion of low-quality products that could harm your brand. Readers will recall that they learned of the products you trust and that you and your blog can be increased or decreased so we recommend to them.

So - the choice of suitable products subsidiary is crucial. It not only affects the conversions and profitability, but it affects your brand and relationships with readers.

Finding the right affiliate product to promote

Some tips and ideas in seeking to promote affiliate programs come to mind:

Google is - this is not an exact science but it works. If you have a product of Google Blog Beauty "Beauty Products Affiliate Program". Enter keywords in the search key and you can find products that are relevant to your niche.

Look at your competition - what are those that promote products instead. Often a quick look down the sidebar of another blog for success in place to see what products and services you are promoting affiliate products reveal you can promote (and could also point to some relevant advertisers to promote).

Check out AdSense ads - many of the AdSense ads that appear in addition to the Google search results on other blogs and even your own blog is likely to be products with affiliate programs attached. Do not click the ads on your own blog, but check what the promo spots can reveal all sorts of potential affiliate partners. The same goes for other types of advertising. For example, recently I was browsing Facebook and saw an ad relevant to my blog - by clicking on it I found a new product with an affiliate program that he had not heard of before.

Address your potential affiliate partners - this would not work if you are a new blog with little traffic, but as a blog grows, you may be in a position to approach the manufacturers of a product or service to see if he got some type of affiliate program for you. I've done this a few times over the past year has been great. The best part is that you get an edge on your competition for promotion, as is very likely to be the only person promotion.

Search affiliate networks - Finally, there are many affiliate networks around a few affiliate programs to a list of many. Most of these have search functions that lets you enter keywords and find promotions relevant to your niche. Check out MarketLeverage, Clickbank, Commission Junction, Red PepperJam (resignation, MarketLeverage sponsors ProBlogger) and many more.

Shop online search for products - many online stores like Amazon have affiliate programs attached to them. In general, fees are not huge (eg Amazon range from a minimum of 4% to 15% depending on product type and the amount sold) - I guess you have narrow profit margins) - but the shops of this type have a huge range of products and can be a good place to start building, while traffic and find other programs.

Link To Your Hosting Provider or Thematic Blogs Affiliate Link

I spoke recently with a blogger ship that has a medium sized blog and said that its third strongest revenue stream came from two links on the sidebar that merely pointed people to your blog host, and the issue WordPress uses. Each was an affiliate link.

Some of the links shows a brief overview of why services are used, along with a call to action without pressure from other bloggers in your niche who seek these services. It also includes a note saying that the links are affiliate links, and that sales helped run your site.

She saw weekly sales of each link, and more than a year, in addition to a five-figure income (including fees and accommodation will be repeated).
